Term 3 Finishes - SeptemberTerm 3 ended as busy as ever. Our yr12 students completed their formal classes and final HSC practical examinations at AIPAH and began their personal preparations for their final HSC examinations. These were held at Our Lady of Lebanon who hosted our students warmly and generously throughout the examinations. NAPLAN results came out and we were delighted that our students performed, as expected, so well. With the exception of yr7 numeracy, all our results scored above the national average. This is very encouraging indeed. We had two groups of singers participating in the Sydney Eisteddfod on September 6, and both came away with Highly Commended for their performances. On the 15th September we took part in “R U OK?” day and all students and staff took extra time and care to check with those around them that they were OK. This was an exercise to increase awareness of and empathy for others. The weekend of the 16th, 17th and 18th September saw AIPAH at the Sydney Dance Festival at Olympic Park. We had dancers performing and participating in workshops and our AIPAH information stand on show. Again, this was a successful weekend for all involved. We finished off the term on a high with an exciting visit from The Walt Disney Company who filmed with our Drama students for their show Phineas and Ferb. The Drama students then organised an “End –of-Term Dance Party” as a fundraiser for the Drama evening in October. |
Term 4 – October /NovemberDrama NightDrama night was held in Rafferty’s theatre at the Riverside Theatre complex on Friday 14th October. We watched two amazing performances “Fearless” written and directed by a yr 11 student Caitlin Gunst and “A Broken Law”, written and directed by another one of our talented yr11 students Liviu Monsted. This was a sell-out performance – not a spare seat in the theatre and plenty of laughs. |

Year 12 Graduation and Awards Ceremony Our Yr 12 Graduation and Awards Ceremony saw many laughs and some tears. This was an emotional morning as we bestowed honour on our achievers and bade the year 12’s farewell. It was fantastic to welcome so many parents, family and friends on the day. After our celebratory tea the students left to primp and preen for their Formal night – a harbour cruise. |
Australia’s Got TalentAuditions were held at AIPAH for Australia’s Got Talent during week 6. Our students were privileged to be able to audition separately and benefit from personal feedback for each of their performances. Year 10 students completed their School Certificate this term. Again we were graciously hosted for the written examinations at Our Lady of Lebanon. The computing examination was held at AIPAH. All students seemed well prepared and confident. I was extremely pleased to see how well they presented themselves at the examinations. Year 10 students also completed the Board of Studies mandatory “All My Own Work” programme. |
Yr 8 – Essential Secondary Science Assessment- ESSAJust last week all yr8 students participated in the ESSA examinations. It is very encouraging to see our students earnestly prepare for this examination and to apply themselves so diligently and conscientiously on the day. |
